News and Impressions from His Holiness the Dalai Lama's Visit to San Diego 2012

With the visit of the Dalai Lama to San Diego this week, there has been so much attention in the media about his work and Buddhism in general. We at Rigpa San Diego are so pleased he has come to teach in our community. We hope that our town and all beings will be blessed by his compassion.

Just a few notes:
Here is the link to the live webcast that will take place Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. from SDSU:

Here is one Rigpa sangha member's blog entry about impressions from his USD talk today:

And finally, we'd like to take this moment to invite you all to an upcoming talk by a fabulous Tibetan lama that Rigpa is hosting. Tsoknyi Rinpoche is a modern meditation master who speaks with the wisdom and background of a traditional Tibetan Buddhist education, but who has lived in the West and speaks to our minds. Here is a link to info about his talk on May 16th at the Sherwood Auditorium at the Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla:

More about that later.

May all beings enjoy happiness!

The Second Annual Rigpa Retreat in San Diego with Sogyal Rinpoche

November 12 - 20, 2011
with a short option November 12 - 14, and a public talk on November 12th

With his remarkable gift for presenting the essence of Tibetan Buddhism in a way that is both authentic and profoundly relevant to the modern mind, Sogyal Rinpoche is one of the most renowned teachers of our time.

Born in Kham in Eastern Tibet, Sogyal Rinpoche was recognized at an early age as the incarnation of Terton Sogyal Lerab Lingpa, a great master and visionary saint of the nineteenth century and a teacher to the Thirteenth Dalai Lama. Today he continues to teach and travel widely in Europe, Australia, Asia, and the United States.

We rarely have teachers of this caliber in San Diego, making this 9 day retreat a true highlight of the year. Make your plans now to experience the authenticity, purity and power of Sogyal Rinpoche's unique teachings for yourself.

So, to tide you over, here is a link to the Zam Rigpa Store, which sells books, CDs, DVDs, practice material for those who meditate (or just think about meditation), and every type of study and inspirational resource one could need.

And here is one of the latest books to be offered, a spiritual memoir/travelogue/human rights treatise written by Matteo Pistono—In The Shadow of the Buddha. I'm sure you'll find it entertaining and highly informative!
