Kindness
and compassion are basic human qualities, but it's not always easy to
embody them in our lives, especially in today’s hectic, fast-paced world
Rigpa San Diego is excited to announce our very first Compassionate Living 'workshop'. This is an exciting 'new' format for us where students & facilitators will work together to create a peaceful and safe environment in which to investigate what compassion really is, and how to cultivate a more compassionate attitude in life both towards ourselves and others.
Nine Sessions - Saturdays
February 21st - April 11th 10:00 am to 12:30 pm (8 sessions)
April 25th - 10:00 am to 5:00 pm full day retreat (1 session)

More Info
People have a variety of reasons for wanting to learn about and cultivate compassion, but in some way we are all suffering—be it from pain, loss, frustration, dissatisfaction, or an unfulfilled desire for happiness.
However, we are not powerless in the face of our circumstances. It is possible to consciously cultivate positive states of mind, and diminish negative states of mind, and so transform our experience and our reactions to life’s circumstances and the people around us. In this way it is possible to change our lives, and bring about change in the world.
In this workshop we'll
—Gain knowledge and awareness by looking into different aspects of compassion: from our own point of view and experience, from a modern scientific point of view, as well as from the Buddhist perspective.
—Deepen and internalize our knowledge and understanding through personal analysis and reflection.
—Familiarize ourselves with the experience of compassion and also establish the habit of compassion, through formal meditation practices as well as activities integrated into everyday life.
There is an expectation that students on this course will commit to a regular, daily compassion practice—recognizing that it is only through actually practicing the practices that the benefits are achieved.
Students will be supported with audio files of the guided practices and there will also be informal exercises for the students to integrate into their daily lives.
